SALESPERSON’S EXAM PREP
Who can qualify for the salesperson’s license?
Age Requirements
- Anyone 18 years of age or older.
Educational Requirements
- There are no experience qualifications.
- Successfully take the Principles course,
- fill in the State application,
- pay the State application fee,
- pass the State exam.
The Salesperson’s Exam Prep course is intended for students who have already completed a Principles course, but there’s nothing stopping a student enrolling in both courses at the same time. The Principles and Exam Prep courses are often sold as a combination.
Real Estate Salesperson (Agents)
- Real estate agents must be licensed as either salespersons or brokers.
- No experience is required for a salesperson’s license.
- Anyone may take the salesperson’s exam after completing a college level course in Real Estate Principles (see below)
NOTE: However, salespersons may not operate as independent agents and MUST BE employed by a broker.
Obtaining a Real Estate Salesperson’s license involves:
- (1) The applicant must complete a college-level course in Real Estate Principles. ContractorsLicense.Com provides a home study course that has been approved (Cert #1541-95) by the Department of Real Estate (DRE) and the Council for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.
- (2) A transcript showing completion of the Real Estate Principles course must be submitted with an Examination Application to the DRE.
- (3) After passing the exam, the applicant receives the Salesperson License Application. The forms must be completed and returned to the DRE with a set of fingerprints.
