SALESPERSON’S EXAM PREP

Who can qualify for the salesperson’s license?

Age Requirements

  • Anyone 18 years of age or older.

Educational Requirements

  • There are no experience qualifications.
  • Successfully take the Principles course,
  • fill in the State application,
  • pay the State application fee,
  • pass the State exam.

The Salesperson’s Exam Prep course is intended for students who have already completed a Principles course, but there’s nothing stopping a student enrolling in both courses at the same time. The Principles and Exam Prep courses are often sold as a combination.

Real Estate Salesperson (Agents)

  • Real estate agents must be licensed as either salespersons or brokers.
  • No experience is required for a salesperson’s license.
  • Anyone may take the salesperson’s exam after completing a college level course in Real Estate Principles (see below)

NOTE: However, salespersons may not operate as independent agents and MUST BE employed by a broker.

Obtaining a Real Estate Salesperson’s license involves:

  • (1)  The applicant must complete a college-level course in Real Estate Principles. ContractorsLicense.Com provides a home study course that has been approved (Cert #1541-95) by the Department of Real Estate (DRE) and the Council for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.
  • (2)  A transcript showing completion of the Real Estate Principles course must be submitted with an Examination Application to the DRE.
  • (3)  After passing the exam, the applicant receives the Salesperson License Application. The forms must be completed and returned to the DRE with a set of fingerprints.
